Imagine to be in darkness. We walk, walk and knock the door with our nose. We change direction and will head against the window. It is a sad situation.Misdirection can happen to anyone.
Since God does not leave us alone, there is always a flashlight or a lamp lighting out put. sometimes even a spotlight. These moments are a kind of magic as if something hitherto submerged to come up suddenly. Everything seems a happy coincidence. someone mentions something that shakes a fiber inside us as well as connecting two wires and complete a circuit. Carl G. Jung called this phenomenon of synchronicity.
One day I was walking by a dark piece of my way when I found an intelligent and well prepared book. Fleeting lights as weak headlights barely lit up around my feet. I stumbled a lot and only continued for a persistent will to live. I thought the sun had been absent and did not understand very well because the sun refused me its rays.I thought ruefully . Misrepresented so to speak. My difficulties. The sun had nothing to do with it. It is easier to blame the sun when we escape to see our shadow. Face the shadow is a kind of mission.
Who taught me this was the english astrologer Liz Greene in his book "astrology of fate". Her conclusions are not new. Somehow, all dealing about emotional or spiritual growth are talking about shadow.
It is true that on hot days is nice to stay in the shade, but we don't want to face the cold of our inner shadow. We are very insistent about it. We want to deny certain demons perched within us. Illusion. The more we avoid, the more they appear large and threatening.
Understand this was very important to me. The shadow is everything we reject within us (our best and our worst). What we claim to belongs to the neighbor, mother, teacher, student, finally the other and then we see that its belongs to us, us, us. We perpetuate the difficulties pushing the shadows in the unconscious.Result: increased dissatisfaction and complications.
Besides astrologer Liz Greeene is also a wise thinker. His style of astrology help us do this work very hard to deal with our shadow. In this book she discusses many myths and archetypes that express unconscious issues.
Here is one of his ideas:
"Each zodiac sign depic ts a mythical journey. Contains a hero, and also involves the nature of his call to adventure. It also contains the helper that provides the magic track, and the threshold of adventure, battle with the brother, the dragon, the witch, the dismemberment, crucifixion, the abduction, the night journey by sea and the whale's belly. The object is also contained in the saga: the beloved, the sacred marriage, jewerly, meeting with the father, the elixir of life. It is also contained in the hubris of the hero or the defect, the nature of its inevitable end, all within the apparently simple description of one zodiac sign."
